- In the 1900 Newaygo County Census, Samuel indicates that his mother, Harriet Harper was born in Maryland.
There was a Harriet Harper born at Baltimore in 1795. So far there is no reason to connect that Harriet to the one who married Lewis. There are 19 different Harper families listed in the 1790 Maryland Census.
