    • From The Brewster Genealogy:
Ezra Brewster removed to Colwell’s Manor or Sixth Concession, Canada, in 1807. As he was about to be pressed into the British Army in the War of 1812, he, with his wife and children, left Canada for Vermont, in a sleigh, escaping three guards, who were stationed along the line to Vermont. He settled his family on a farm in Monroe County, N. Y., and in 1813 enlisted at Scottsville, N. Y., as a private, and was in the battles of Port Erie and Black Eock. For his services he received from the Government, in 1850, a military warrant for forty acres of land in Genesee County, Mich. In 1824 he settled in Michigan, where he was a farmer and land locater of Government lands in the Territory of Michigan, his last residence being at Oakland, Oakland County, Mich. [1]
