    Notes
    • From the Race/Rees Family:
Andries was listed by the Dwight Committee in 1753 as being the owner of one house and sixty acres of which he had been in possession for 16 years. At dawn, 15 Apr 1755, Willem Rees, brother of Andries, was killed while resisting the attempt of Livingston's men to evict him from his house. Andires was named as one of the group of over 100 men that went ot the Iron Works at Ancram and took some of the Livingston men to Springfield and put them in the jail after the death of Willem. Andries was one of a large group who purchases a large tract of land form the Stockbridge Indians. The deed was dated 29 Oct 1756. In Oct 1756 Andries was named in Judgement of Edjectment against "his rebellious tenants" obtained form Albany County Court by Robert Livingston. On 30 May 1757 Johathan Darby and Andrew Race signed petition to Providence of Massachusetts Bay to honor the purchase from the Indians on behalf of some forty inhabitants and for a time refered to as the "township of Taughkinnuk". On 25 Nov 1756 Andries Rees and two other families were evicted by sheriff and their house torn down. In 1761 Andries Race was listed as a taxpayer in Egremont along with John Race.

The Race/Rees Family calls him Andries Janse Race. It’s not clear where the paternal “Janse” came from, but if it’s correct, then his father was Jan, not Andires. [2]
