- In a phone conversation with my brother, Bob, on December 22, 2008, he told me that Freda's father, Norman Miller, gave Freda and Tom the property in Grand Haven where they built their cottage. I believe the address was 1407 Lake. Norman was very impressed with Tom because, when Tom was driving to his wedding from Chicago to Grand Rapids, he stopped and sold a "load" [a train car full] of paint. This made him late for the wedding, but Norman was impressed with Tom's paint sale so he being late did not matter.
