    • From the Genealogy of the Cushing Family, page 51:
      Josiah served in the Revolutionary War as Private in Captian Elijah Cushing’s Co. of Minutemen in 1775; also as Sergeant in Capt. James Hatch’s Co. 1776; also Captain 5th (Pembroke) Co., 2nd Plymouth Co. Regt. the same year. In 1778 he raised a company in Pembroke, Duxbury and Marshfield, which was employed on guard duty in the fort at Nantasket. [2]
