| Notes |
- From Lincoln’s History of the Town of Hingham:
“John, probably born in England, Apr. 30, 1690, according to tradition, came to the Mass. Bay in New Eng. as ‘carpenter’ of the english war ship Lucitanus, and with one of his associates, landed at Cohasset. It is said that he was pressed into this service, and therefore felt justified in leaving the ship at the first favorable opportunity. It appears from recent investigation by members of the family that he was of respectable parentage, and had received a good education.... His will, dated 6 Nov. 1770, was proved 7 may, 1773. Resided in the sec. pre. [Cohasset].” [1]
