- Joseph resided on Ship Cove Kane, Conihasset. In 1757 he was engaged in the business of supplying fishermaen, including ‘strong liquors,’ and on 6 Jan 1757 he presented a petition to the General Court of the Province of Massachusetts Bay for a license to enable him to meet the obligation of his engagement with them, after having secured the approval of the Selectmen for such a license. The petition was consented to, and signed by Gov. Phipps. [1]
