      Polly died in 1831. Afterwards, the property was for sale:

      On 26 August 1836, an advertisement ran in the Manx newspaper that read: “House and Ship for Sale in Douglas. To be sold, by Public Auction, at Mrs. Dixon’s Room, the British Hotel, on Tuesday the 20th of September, at 12 o’clock, Noon—All that well-known shop, dwelling house, and dry cellars (having frontage in James’s Street and Post Office Lane), formerly known as Mr. Peter Moore’s Concerns. The premises are situated in the most frequented thoroughfare and the shop has been an established place of business for upwards of forty years. The cellaring is large and dry and may be let adventageously if not required for the use of the shop. The premises are capable of great improvement and the shop may be opened with three fronts if required.
      “Part of the purchase money may be left o the premises.
      “For further particulars, apply at the house or to J.C. Bluett, Esq. Advocate, Douglas.
      “The premises may be viewed from 12 to 4 any time previous to the sale.—Douglas, Aug. 25, 1836”

      Two years later, on 23 June 1838, a M. A. [Peter and Polly’s daughter Mary Ann?] Moore was still trying to sell the property: “House and Shop for Sale in Douglas. To be sold by public auction by R. Jones on Tuesday, the 3rd of July next, that well-known shop and dwelling house in James Street and Post Office Lane, formerly known as Mr. Peter Moore’s concern.
      “The premises are situated in the most frequented thoroughfare and the shop has been an established place of business for upwards of forty years and may be used together, or at a light expenses be converted into two houses.
      “Sale to take place on the premises at 1 o’clock, forenoon.
      “For particulars and to view the premises, apply to M. A. Moore, Athol Street, or to R. Jones, Fort Street.
      “Sale of furniture, etc, at 6 o’clock in the evening.
      “M. A. Moore takes this opportunity of respectfully informing her friends and the public that she has removed from James Street to Athol Street, the second house on the right from Peel Road and continues to keep a choice assortment of Berlin and lamb wool, floss and Deccan silks, and a variety of other articles.
      “Douglas, June 22, 1838.”

      The following month, in July 1838, the same notice ran again, advertising the sale.

      In October 1858 the following notice was run: “Sales by Auction. House and Shop for Sale. To be sold by public auction, by Mr. John Armstrong, on the premises on Tuesday the 19th instant. All and singluar, that capital dwelling house and shop situated at the corner of Old Post Office Lane and James Street; many years in the building of Peter Moore, sailmaker.
      “The auction to commence at twelve o’clock, noon, when conditions will be declared.
      “Further particulars in the meantime may be known on application to Ridgway Harrison, Advocate, 61 Duke Street, Douglas. October 9, 1858.”
