    • BIRTH: Index shows his birth is recorded in Vol 7, Page 298. See if you get get a birth certificate with a copy of his death certificate.

Lila said that the farm in Lansing did not sell (It had been rented when they went to Wisconsin not sold as indicated in the newspaper article), for that reason and the fact that they could not get cement to build a house with the rocks they had collected made them come back to Michigan. She said that her father exchanged the property in Saranac for two pieces of property the one they lived in on Wacousta Rd and the other one in Vermontville, which was rented to Noni and Donald.

Lila said: The Saranac house was a two bedroom house and the Turner St. house was a five bedroom house.

Hamilton Manufacturing Co., founded by James Edward Hamilton (aka Edward James Hamilton), was the survivor of the large and innovative American wood type industry of the nineteenth century. The foundry went out of business by the middle of the twentieth century

Per Noni: On the trip home from Two Rivers, Wisconsin we took the train around and through Chicago to Lansing. I think Aunt Frances and Uncle George took us to Aunt Mary's. We stayed there for awhile until they found the farm in Wacousta. I don't think that we brought the car or very many of our belongings back with us.

Per Noni: While at Aunt Mary's (Vermontville) the children rode the school bus. After they moved to the Wacousta Farm, we had to walk about a mile to school, over a bridge and past a cemetery. We moved to the farm in early spring. The Wacousta farm had no running water unless someone pumped the handle and that was outside.

My dad said that he thinks his father also owned the property at 921 James St., Belding, Ionia Co., MI after Leonard and Caroline Baldwin were killed. He thought that Noni (Shears) and Don Newcomb sold the property later on but Noni doesn't remember this.

DEATH: He died at Grand Rapids Osteopathic Hospital, at age 60 years, 8 months, 11 days.

DEATH: He was a heavy smoker. I, Marcia Shears, remember him rolling his own cigarettes.

DEATH: His funeral was as Bliss Funeral Home, Cedar Springs MI. It was at 11:00 a.m., Friday, 14 Nov 1970. Rev Fay Demarest officiated.

BURIAL: He does not have a grave marker.
