    Notes 
    • Elisha was a shipbuilder at the Wanton shipyard, Norwell. In 1815 Elisha took his sons Seth, Samuel, and Walter, in company wiith him, and after that date the firm of Elisha Foster & Sons built several vessels taht became somewhat famous. Among them was the ship Globe, 235 tons, a whaler, which was the first vessel to bring 2000 barels of sperm oil into the United States. In 1824 a horrible mutiny occurred on her off Fanning’s Island, which brought the naem of this vessel further to public notice. In 1817 six vessels were built at the Foster yard. [2]
