    Notes
    • From the notes of John Henry Wise -E.A LeSeur was the husband of Emaline Rebecca Wise but nothing could be found to document this informtion.NOTE: On my trip to PA Oct.2003 I found a marriage Licence for a Emma B. Wise to a E.A. LeSuer the 25thMarch, 1909-This proves that it was not Emmaline Rebbeca Wise as she died in 1897 in Attica,NY- She also was bornin 1830 and would have been 79 years old--died and buried in Attica,NY too.
From her obit., June 13,1897- While the relatives were taking their places in the parlor, and just before the services began, the granddaughter Miss Helen Munger, played by request of the deceased, a very beautiful selection,” The Chapel in theMountains”. The burial was at Forest Hill Cementary, Attica, NY.Besides her husband and the granddaughter already mentioned, Mrs. Munger is survived by two sons, Cassius Munger of Attica and Edward of San Francisco, CA., and two brothers,Frederick and Benjamin Wise of MI. She was born in Erie Cty but for more than sixty years had been a resident of Attica, her parents Francis and Rebecca Wise, being among the pioneers of the town. On September 3, 1845, she married Merrick B.Munger. For 26 years the family lived in the village, and removed to the pleasant home they now occupy on the Creek road. She had been in delicate health for a number of years, though able to be around the house and attend to household duties.Eight weeks ago she was taken down very suddenly with a very severe attack of the grip and almost from the first her life was dispared of. For the last two weeks of her illness she was a great sufferer. She was a woman of strong character andretained her mental faculties to the last, giving to the friends assembled at her bedside full and minute directions as to her burial and the funeral obsequies.
HISTORY OF WYOMING COUNTY NY:Wyoming Cty. has a long and colorful history. Before the White Man came it was the homeland of the SENECA INDIANS “Keepers of the Western Door”. Mary Jemison, (also know as, Dehewamis) “The White Woman of the Genesee”was adopted by the Indians after her parents were killed in an Indian raid in Pennsylvania. She lived out her life in what is now Letchworth.
Attica was formed from the Town of Sheldon April 4, 1811; Orangeville was taken of in 1816. If a relative says he was born in Attica, or Attica Center or Dutch Flats, etc. or just in the countryside of the Town of Attica. The same is true about allthe other towns. They all have villages, settlements or just a 4 corner area or again just the countryside.
