    Notes
    • I, Marcia Shears, remember (great) Aunt Goldie taking all of us kids at the yearly family reunion for an ice cream cone. Her sister (great) Aunt Ethel Armstrong went to help supervise the kids, but she said Goldie paid for all of the ice cream.

      ---------------

Excerpts from daughter, Ethel (Hand) Armstrong's Story "A Family Named Hand
..."Early in September of that year (Marcia's note: 1908) mother gave birth to another girl. Poor father. Another girl! She was named Goldie Lenora . I don't know where either name came from but I don't think they were family names. She was a baby doll with brown hair, blue eyes and two teeth." ...

      ------------------------

She had collected over 8,150 pair of earrings when she died. Her son Russell Haverstick put them in a display trailer and had the trailer at his house. He lived on Long Lake Road about 3 miles east of Belding at the time and his telephone numbers was 794-3858. My mother and I, Marcia Shears, went to see them and I took some pictures of the walls of earrings. Russell died in 1995. I do not know what became of the trailer of earrings.
