    Notes
    • From decendant Norma Overton:
"Sarah Edlin met Truman Baker in 1866, baby was born 1867 and she was divorced and remarried by 1869. We have found no trace of Truman Baker." Sarah Ann Edlin and Truman Baker were her 3rd great-grandparents.

"What do I know I Truman.....well.......One census states he was born in NY....one states he was born in MI (daughter info)
He was born around 1835-1840. Truman Baker listed in Hillsdale is definately NOT my grandfather.
There was a Truman Baker living in 1880 census with John Baker Family, wife named Adelaine and 3 step-daughters....I traced an Adelaine Baker down to OH in 1900 census but she was listed as a widow.
In 1910 soundex I found a Truman Baker living in MI; he was 50 plus years his latest wife was in her 20s. He was a blacksmith.....haven't been able to prove or disapprove him.

what I have to go on......I have a picture taken of Caroline (his daughter) and her family, Truman is sitting next to her along with another woman...much younger...either a young wife or maybe a step-sister to Caroline. Picture had to be taken no earlier than 1910 because of the age of my immediate grandmother who is in the picture. I checked census in Indiana and OH because Caroline and family lived there. We figured he had to live close..to keep in touch...people didn't travel that much n those days. Judy Hardy has done a lot of checking on Montcalm records. We thought maybe that could be his middle name but no bakers came up that would fit living in/around Bloomer. I am reluctant to try and get a death record for a truman baker for fear I'll get the one in Hillsdale....his wife was the same name and he was about the same age but married at the time of the CW. We never could find a marriage record in Gratiot, Ionia and Montcalm for wedding of Sarah to Truman but Sarah to 2nd Hubby was there and she listed her name as Sarah Baker not Sarah Edlin. We just wonder why we couldn't find little Caroline...why her mom never listed her on census with her new husband???? She wasn't listed at her grandparents house until 1880 census....."
