    • From the History of the City of Paterson and the County of Passaic:
      Joris lived near the Three Pigeons, in the present Hudson county. In the right of his father, he and his brothers Gerrit and Isaac had apportioned to them in 1785 a tract of about 357 acres of the Secaucus Commons, including Snake Hill. 2 About 1780 Joris removed to Polifly, occupying a stone house still standing on the Polifly road, near where it turns to Hackensack. His children went to school at Hackensack. [1]
