May Matthews died 4 July 1938 of Uremia, a coma, albumen and edema, coronary sclerosis and Diabetes. She died at home in Olivet. Her husband was Frank Matthews and she was a widow. May was born in Olivet on 26 May 1862. Her parents were Own Pinch born in New York and Fannie Fry, born in England. The informant was Mrs. Mattie Welch of Olivet. May was buried in Olivet cemetery.

FORMER SCHOOL TEACHER SUCCUMBS AT 76 IN OLIVET
OLIVET —Mrs. May Matthews, 76, died Monday afternoon in the home of a niece, Mrs. Frank Herrick, in Olivet. Mrs. Matthews had spent her entire life in Olivet. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Own Pinch and was born here. She taught for several years in schools in this vicinity. For the last several years she had been dividing her time among several nieces and nephews are. There are no other survivors. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday from the Olivet Congregational church. The Rev. MG. Inghram will be in charge. Burial will be in Olivet cemetery.
